Evidence based coaching is grounded on empirical assessments of leadership perspectives and needs. It works to correlate the qualitative analysis of a leader's attitudes and needs to how they approach their daily activities and interactions. When leaders gain comfort in their own skin their organization's performance excels.
Evidence based coaching utilizes the Birkman Method® personal assessments to provide leaders with a multi-dimensional insight into their behaviors. The Birkman focuses on five major perspectives:
Usual Behavior – Productive, socialized behavior which is easy to observe. It can be seen by others as: adaptable, appropriate and natural.
Underlying Needs – Although rarely seen by others, Needs are vital because they: identify an individual’s preferred environment, clarify motivational needs and highlight inner strengths.
Stress Behaviors – Counter-productive, frustrated behavior that is easy to observe. The response when Underlying Needs are not met over a prolonged period of time. It can be seen by others as: defensive, reactive, uncomfortable and costly.
Interests – Measured in 10 scales which correlate hightly to over 160 different occupational roles and careers. Interests indicate what an individual prefers to do and how they prefer to direct their energies.
Organizational Focus – Provides information on an individual’s fundamental approach to work orientation. It identifies an individual’s natural approach to problem solving, and the method used for engaging and influencing others.
